BENEFIT Panel on
Systems Engineering in CEE countries
EMSYS'96, Berlin, 23-25 Sept. 1996
The paper first presents the background to the use of microprocessors and microcontrollers in Russia by comparing the relative applications for the various makes used from 1990 to the present. In the former case one can see the growth of Intel at the expense of DEC. The author then examines the structure and production of digital controllers and the development from 8 bit to 64 bit. He illustrates the development by describing the progress of the THESEUS RISC processor from its market requirements and system specifications to its impressive technical parameters.
